Woman 'milkshakes' Republican politician and outspoken Trump supporter Matt Gaetz

It's happened. 'Milkshaking' has spread to the United States, and a woman has now been arrested after she doused Republican representative Matt Gaetz in the creamy lactose-filled drink.

Representative Matt Gaetz, one of Donald Trump's most die-hard supporters, was leaving a town hall event on Saturday afternoon in Pensacola, Florida, when 25-year-old Democrat Amanda Kondrat’yev threw a milkshake at him.

The moment was captured on camera and went viral after it was shared to Twitter. In a post, user Jordan Uhl wrote:

After the 'milkshaking', Gaetz addressed it on his Twitter account. In a post, he wrote:

Clearly it takes more than a drink to slow down our great team.

We are always thankful to the brave law enforcement officials who keep everyone safe at our events.

Kondrat’yev, who is a Democrat, previously ran for Gaetz’s seat in Florida in 2016 and lost. After the incident, she was reportedly arrested and charged with battery and has since been released on a $1,000 bail.

'Milkshaking' started in Britain, where people began dumping dessert on far-right politicians and figures. The first target was EDL founder Tommy Robinson when he was doused in milkshake twice in one day while out campaigning for the European elections.

Since then, multiple right-wingers have also been targetted, such as Nigel Farage, who was pelted with a banana and salted caramel milkshake, while campaigning for the Brexit Party in the European elections.

Gaetz first made national headlines after seemingly threatening Michael Cohen before he was set to testify to the House Oversight and Reform Committee, and he is now under investigation by the Florida Bar for alleged witness tampering, reports the Daily Dot.

The flavour of milkshake he was hit with is still unknown.

Well, Gaetz is the first to be hit in America, we wonder who will be next?
