By this point in the Trump presidency, we know that the famously 'burnt orange' Leader of the Free World has a penchant for Twitter.

This time, he's taken to the social media site to predict who his 2020 Democratic rivals will be, suggesting that it's likely to be either senator Bernie Sanders or former vice president Joe Biden.

In a tweet, he wrote:

I believe it will be Crazy Bernie Sanders vs. Sleepy Joe Biden as the two finalists to run against maybe the best Economy in the history of our Country (and MANY other great things)!

I look forward to facing whoever it may be.

May God Rest Their Soul!

However, Twitter users have been struck by his bizarre, and somewhat morbid, turn of phrase.

We mean, 'God Rest Their Soul'... Doesn't that imply, erm, death!?

Also, it would appear that Biden and Sanders now, erm, also share a soul. We need to brush up on our metaphysics.

You have to admit, it's rather funny.

Move along, folks, nothing to see here.

Time to get some secret service protection, maybe?

Some just thought the whole thing was down right creepy.

Others took issue with the statement regards the economy.

In response to the attack, Sanders took to Twitter to defend himself, writing:

Looks like President Trump is scared of our campaign. He should be.

This isn't the first time Trump has attacked Sanders on Twitter. He's previously attacked the Democrat for for his reported income of almost $600,000 (£460,000).

He said:

Bernie Sanders and wife should pay the Pre-Trump Taxes on their almost $600,000 (£460,000) in income.

He is always complaining about these big TAX CUTS, except when it benefits him.

They made a fortune off of Trump, but so did everyone else - and that’s a good thing, not a bad thing!

In response, Sanders published his tax returns, and issued a statement:

These tax returns show that our family has been fortunate.

I am very grateful for that, as I grew up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck and I know the stress of economic insecurity.

I consider paying more in taxes as my income rose to be both an obligation and an investment in our country.

The 2020 presidential elections are due to be held on 2 November and will be the 59th quadrennial U.S. presidential election.
