Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is one of the biggest and brightest festivals in the world.
Typically held over five days, the celebrations coincide with the darkest new moon in the Hindu calendar.
It is marked as an official holiday in Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji, but is celebrated by many more all across the globe.
