German financial expert becomes latest parent to be hilariously upstaged by his kid on the news

Cast your mind back to 2017 and you’ll no doubt need no reminding of the time when a guest on BBC News was thoroughly upstaged by his own children on live television in an all-time great viral clip.

Well, after a few years and a few potential contenders for the “children gatecrashing a serious news segment” crown, we might have finally found a legitimate challenger.

Come with us over to Bloomberg News for an interview with Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, a senior fellow at the German Marshall Fund, who was attempting to inform viewers about the current state of the German financial industry.

However, one person who clearly wasn’t keen to learn more was Kirkegaard’s son who literally spent the majority of the interview trolling his father by acting up for the camera behind him.

Kirkegaard initially laughed this off and attempted to push the child away but soon gave up and just let the youngster do his thing while he tried to persevere with his very serious financial report.

As the scene looked to be getting a little out of control – the boy had grabbed a stapler by this point – presenter Jonathan Ferro quipped: “Does your son work for the Greek government?”

The clip, which has now been viewed more than 17,000 times, was shared by Bloomberg producer Aggi Cantrill and needless to say many people have found it hilarious.

As millions of us have now been working from home for the best part of two years, we’re surprised that we haven’t seen more moments like this cropping up on the news.

We just hope the child in this video learnt a little bit about the current status of the European Central Bank...
