Diego the cat, owned by Iris Samaniego, had been missing since June 2015.

He had sneaked out through the garage of Iris' California home, and while she posted signs everywhere for a year, Diego never turned up.

Iris was then at work, when she was given some useful information:

I was at work and in between patients, I’m a vet tech, something told me to look on animal friends of the valley website which is odd for me.

She searched the rescue shelter website and saw a familiar face:

I saw his picture and left work as fast I could.

A video oof Iris and Diego's emotional reunion has had over four million views. Her sister wrote a Facebook post about the reunion, saying:

She came straight to the shelter after work and when we saw him we knew it was him. By the way, the shelter did an amazing job at taking care of our Diego while he was there.

Never give up on finding your animals. This is the best Christmas present she could have received.
