Donald Trump has fake news-ed himself after indicating that CNN president Jeff Zucker is preparing to resign, despite no such suggestion from the publication.

The US president took to his favourite mode of communication, Twitter, and said the following:

Now that we have found out that @CNN is a virtual fraud, rumor [sic] has it that Jeff Zucker will be resigining momentarily?

We assume the president meant “resigning" not "resigining."

His tweet comes after American right wing activist group Project Veritas claimed to “expose” CNN bias after the group released hidden-camera recordings of the president telling new reporters to focus on impeachment proceedings.

Matt Dornic, spokesperson for CNN took to Twitter and replied to Trump with one simple word:

The exchange tickled people online

Others suggested the president ought to direct his attention away from criticising the media and onto more pressing issues
