President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter to argue that the Obamas have a wall around their Washington DC home for safety, so the United States should have one too. Yes, really.

In his latest Twitter rant, the president of the United States wrote:

President and Mrs. Obama built/has a ten foot Wall around their D.C. mansion/compound. I agree, totally necessary for their safety and security. The U.S. needs the same thing, slightly larger version!

The bizarre tweet comes as the president is attempting to fight his way out of a partial government shutdown because of a battle with the Democrats over how to fund his proposed border wall. The negotiations are still at a stand still.

Trump has been relentlessly tweeting about the border wall in an attempt to get the $5bn that is needed to complete it. However, three senior officials hinted on Sunday that they don't think Trump will be able to fulfil his campaign promise of building a concrete wall along the Mexico border, including John Kelly, senator Lindsay Graham, and Kellyanne Conway.

The Obamas had the wall built around their 8,200 square foot home in the wealthy Washington DC district of Kalorama before they moved in as part of security updates by the Secret Service.

Needless to say, the president has been roasted on Twitter for the bizarre argument.

Many pointed out that you really can't conflate home and homeland security.

Others went for his grammar.

While some were just in despair.
