Drone footage from above Kathmandu shows devastation of Nepal earthquake

Footage filmed by an army drone from above Kathmandu has given a glimpse into the scale of the destruction wrought by Saturday's earthquake.

The video, filmed yesterday, shows monuments toppled, roads cracked and residential buildings ruined in the Nepalese capital.

The 7.8-magnitude quake, the worst in 80 years to hit Nepal, is now thought to have killed 4,000 people, with 7,000 injured.

Further thousands of people have left Kathmandu over looming food and water shortages, while thousands of others are sleeping in tents amid fears more buildings could yet collapse.
