The Irish journalist, conspiracy theorist and anti-immigration activist Gemma O'Doherty is well known for holding a set of controversial views on a variety of subjects.

The 50-year-old, who was banned from YouTube earlier this month for promoting 'hate speech', posted a tweet on Friday bemoaning what in her eyes was the Islamification of Ireland, because a shop in County Roscommon was selling halal meat.

O'Doherty, who in the past claimed that the Christchurch mosque shooting, in which 49 people died, was a false flag and has also retweeted the views of Katie Hopkins, perhaps didn't entirely think through her above tweet.

Replies to her began pointing out that Irish themed bars and shops have popped up all over the world and that it was a bit rich of her to criticise another culture that was trying to integrate itself into Ireland.

Others pointed out that it was just a shop that actually had some remarkably good deals.
