Jacob Rees-Mogg is now a member of the cabinet and there are a lot of jokes

Jacob Rees-Mogg is now officially a member of the cabinet after being appointed as leader of the House of Commons and lord president of the council by Boris Johnson.

The 50-year-old, who compared Johnson as prime minister to North Korea just days ago, is possibly one of the most maligned and mocked MPs currently in government but his ascension shouldn't be too much of a surprise.

He will be replacing the role previously held by Andrea Leadsom, who herself has ascended to become business secretary, told Sky News that he was "very honoured" to be handed the new job.

Now that he is finally in the cabinet, the jokes and mockery of the renowned Brexiteer have been dished out in their droves.

Yes, that last tweet is from Rees-Mogg's fellow Tory MP, Nicholas Soames...ouch!

Surely, he should have been appointed a job that was more fitting to the era that he seemingly time-travelled from?

While there are plenty of jokes about Rees-Mogg there are also more harrowing and troubling elements about his appointment.
