Just how drunk is the House of Commons?

The House of Commons spent more than £1.4million on alcohol from the Palace of Westminster's bars, shops and restaurants in 2012 and 2013, according to a freedom of information request by The Times.

That equates to each of our 650 MPs spending £1,076 per year on booze, although we presume most of the alcohol will have been shared by their staff, as well as guests and visitors to parliament.

Their intake includes 8,502 bottles of champagne, 463 litres of Gordon’s gin and 52 litres of Famous Grouse whisky.

Here's how many bottles of branded House of Commons Champagne, House of Commons Sauvignon, Speaker John Bercow's whisky and House of Commons Sauvignon were bought per MP over the last two years. Chin Chin!
