President Donald Trump has recently been permanently banned from Twitter, as well as Facebook, Instagram and other platforms.
In response, one of his supporters compared the president to Jesus Christ.
Dean Browning tweeted: “If Twitter had been around during the era of Jesus Christ, he too would have been banned from the platform for misinformation.”
He added that those on the right side of history are “rarely appreciated” while they are alive.
But it is not the first time Trump has been likened to Jesus.
In 2019, Republican congressman Barry Loudermilk compared the process of the president’s impeachment to the persecution of Christ.
Trump also previously told a crowd in North Carolina that Jesus was the only person more famous around the world than himself.
Many social media users criticised the recent parallel drawn by Browning.
Others mocked the comparison.
In addition, some pointed out the Trump supporter’s history on social media.
YouTube has also just announced it’s suspending Trump’s channel from uploading new videos for at least a week, and that it deleted a recent upload after concern about the “ongoing potential for violence”.
