A real classic lesson in why you shouldn’t take your work home with you: a college professor has been fired after students noticed he was apparently watching pornagraphic videos with a "college theme".

John Peng Zhang, who taught at the University of Miami, was reportedly caught out last month after sharing his screen during a lecture delivered via Zoom.

But eagled-eyed students quickly clocked that one of his tabs was titled “Busty college girl fu…”

Students called out the tab at the time but Zhang did not notice.

One filmed and uploaded a TikTok of the incident which gained over 800,000 views before being deleted, according to student newspaper theMiami Hurricane.

Screenshots from the TikTok then went viral, with the university’s domain address clearly visible in the browser bar.

Zhang reportedly addressed the matter at their next lecture, apologising.

I don’t know how it happened.

I didn’t see it, I’m pretty sure everybody else did…My apologies to the class.

After informing students he was “investigating”, classes continued to be held until this month, when Zhang failed to appear for a scheduled session, just days after the Miami Hurricanebroke the story.

Students who had expected to attend Zhang’s class waited for 20 minutes until they were informed via email the session was cancelled.

The University of Miami confirmed yesterday that Zhang had ‘resigned’ after they received a complaint about inappropriate behaviour.

"The University of Miami aggressively investigates all complaints of inappropriate behavior or sexual harassment," a statement from the school read.

After receiving a complaint through the University's ethics hotline, the incident was investigated by the Office of the Provost, Title IX investigator and Miami Herbert Business School.

The University can confirm that John Peng Zhang resigned and is no longer employed at the University of Miami.

Some students expressed regret at the events, calling firing Zhang "extreme".

“I think firing him is a little extreme…He didn’t do anything illegal," said Jade Johnson, a junior marketing major in Zhang's class.

However, others said they had felt uncomfortable knowing Zhang was allegedly watching pornographic material of young women, directly related to his day job.

“It was the fact he is a college professor and saved a video to his bookmarks describing college girls,” Samantha Hill, another of his students, told the Hurricane.

“A video to watch over and over again. It’s hard not to think he’s looking at you like that.

"I wouldn’t turn my camera on…I don’t want him to look at me”.
