The difference in how the public see Cameron & Miliband on the NHS

A new poll shows that the NHS will matter more to people than the economy when they come to vote in May's general election.

Despite that fact, the poll also shows that there is almost no difference between the levels of public trust in David Cameron's or Ed Miliband's ability to run the health service.

Perhaps with that in mind, Mr Miliband is in Manchester on Tuesday morning to unveil a 10-year plan for the NHS, promising a revolution in social care.

With just 100 days to go until the election, the Conservatives have just pulled ahead of Labour by 31 points (up two since last month) to 30 (down two), according to the ComRes poll for the Independent.

The Conservative election campaign will likely focus on the economy because of Labour's perceived weakness in that area and Tory strategists hope that Mr Cameron's experience of the NHS - with reference to his son Ivan - means he will be trusted on health even though voters have doubts about the party's commitment to the health service.
