The photos that sum up Britain's relationship with the EU

EU leaders are meeting in Brussels for a summit that for many offers the first chance to congratulate the new president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker.

Here he is receiving a warm handshake from the prime minister of the Czech Republic.

A smile was evident as Mr Juncker met with the Latvian prime minister.

As it was when meeting the prime minister of Denmark.

The prime minister of Malta couldn't wait to meet Mr Juncker.

The prime minister of Poland practically got a hug from the jacket-less Mr Juncker.

The Portuguese prime minister actually did get a hug.

As did the president of Cyprus.

And then Mr Juncker met David Cameron. The man who had lobbied very publicly to prevent him from getting the job.

It gets worse.

Much worse.

The body language speaks volumes, and sums up Britain's confused relationship with Europe right now.
