Shoshana Roberts, the actress who volunteered to spend 10 hours walking through New York in silence to expose street harassment, is now being threatened with rape.
More than one million people have watched the video, which Roberts made with director Rob Bliss for anti street-harassment group Hollaback!. But shortly after it went viral, Hollaback! posted on Twitter that the actress had began to receive rape threats in the comments.
Hollaback! say their supporters are reporting the YouTube rape threats and they are being deleted. "The rape threats indicate that we are hitting a nerve," the organisation's director Emily May added.
While making the video, Shoshana was subject to more than 100 instances of verbal harassment - as well as winks and whistles.
