There's bad parking and then there's Sicily bad parking

This is what happens when you combine a lack of waterfront parking with Italians' natural flair for doing the opposite of what they're told.

This drone footage was shot above Pergole beach in Agrigento province, south-west Sicily, by the Mare Amico environmental group.

Town mayor Pietro Puccio explained in an interview that this sort of thing happened every year and that bathers had even removed signs explicitly telling them not to park on the beach.

He has vowed to rectify the issue but insisted the problem is that there is no suitable land nearby for a car park.
