These controversial videos reveal the brutal truth about abortion bans

In Chile an accidental abortion is the only kind of abortion that is not considered a crime.

That's the message of controversial videos created by activist group ‘Miles Chile’ to support efforts by president Michelle Bachelet to ease the country's total abortion ban.

The video is just one in a series of purposefully dark ‘mock’ abortion tutorials urging a change in the law - to allow women to end pregnancies in cases of rape or medical complications.

“When you reach the bottom everything will be OK,” the woman offers to the camera before she throws herself backwards down steep stairs.

In Chile, any woman found guilty of having an abortion faces prison time of up to five years. This has driven many women underground and Miles Chile estimate 120,000 illegal abortions are performed ever year, through the black market.
