The Refugee Council is a charity that helps refugees to rebuild their lives in Britain.

These pictures were all drawn by children taking part in educational classes and social activities.

"The young people we help are separated from their families and have often experienced significant trauma," the charity's policy manager Judith Dennis told i100.

"We find that art can be an extremely useful outlet for children who are trying to rebuild their lives despite an ever present backdrop of uncertainty as their problems don’t end when they arrive in the UK."

Places and Faces

"I have been in so many places / I have seen so many faces / faces capitalised on weakness / places forbidden to conserve the uniqueness.

"Places I wanted to stay / yet, I had to live without delay.

"Places full of glories / glories that transformed each face into stories.

"These places... these faces / are my inspiration... my meditation; / these faces are my pain! / Things I did not deserve to gain.

"Thank God I left, / My Face now smile with safety / And I am free 'cos I can speak, see and feel.

"I no longer need to communicate with soul / My fear is gone and my wounds are healed / I can foresee the expectancy of my goals."

(I dedicate this poem to all the asylum seekers and refugees).
