Donald Trump has reignited the preposterous debate over president Obama’s religion and birthplace and a poll has revealed that 2 per cent of Americans think the president is Mormon.
In a town hall in New Hampshire, Trump was told:
We have a problem in this country, it's called Muslims. We know our current president is one.
Of course, despite the fact that Barack Obama is a practicing Christian, Trump didn’t correct him and agreed with him.
Trump, who has previously called for the birth certificate of the president, replied:
We need the question.
The man continued:
We have training camps growing where they want to kill us. That's my question: When can we get rid of them?
Trump answered:
We're going to be looking at a lot of different things. And you know, a lot of people are saying that, and a lot of people are saying that bad things are happening out there.
We're going to be looking at that and plenty of other things.
Sadly, he’s not the only one.
29 per cent believed that Obama iss Muslim in a CNN poll of 1,012 American adults between 4-8 September 2015.
In addition 16 per cent incorrectly named the place of his birth, with 4 per cent still believing it to be Kenya.
Yet again, we sadly have to clarify…
Announcement: President Obama is a practicing Christian and was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on 4 August 1961.
Trump tweeted this morning:
More:Half of Republicans somehow still think Barack Obama is a Muslim
