You've been cutting avocados wrong this whole time

You've been cutting avocados wrong this whole time

Sorry to break it to you, but it's true.

This video explainer comes to us from the American Chemical Society, which reveals that the health benefits of avocados are often offset by people cutting and peeling them in the 'wrong way'.

Avocados are rich in carotenoids, which combat cancer and heart disease, and they are mostly found in the dark green portion of the skin.

With that in mind, follow this guide to cut your avocados:

Step one: Cut vertically all the way around the pit of the avocado

Step two: Twist both sides away from each other

Step three: Remove the pit by hacking into it with the knife

Step four: Cut your two halves into four quarters

Step five: Instead of digging in with a spoon, peel the skin away

And enjoy!
