Scientists used a 3D printer to discover the perfect penis size

A new study to find the perfect penis size, using 3D printed models, has concluded that, well, it depends.

Researchers found that women preferred a penis 6.3in in length with a 4.8in circumference for long-term relationships, whereas for one night stands women preferred a penis 6.4in in length, with a 5in circumference.

The study by the University of California Los Angeles and the University of New Mexico used 100 plastic 3D-printed phalluses, coloured blue to minimise racial bias (really), and 75 female participants were asked to choose which they preferred.

The study lead, Dr Nicole Prause, told The Daily Beast:

Women may prefer different sizes for different reasons at different times, so chances are very good any guy is someone's ideal for the relationship type they are seeking.

To maximise the chances of receiving the sexual benefits it makes sense that women might prefer a larger girth penis that brings the clitoral glans closer to the friction point and also will stimulate the crura of the clitoris internally more.

There is a cost with a larger phallus.

All intercourse causes tearing and pushes bacteria into the vagina. A larger phallus probably causes more tearing and may push more bacteria into the vagina: not a good long-term option.

Fifteen women in the study said they finished a relationship due to their partner’s penis being too small for their preferences, while five women said they ended a relationship for the opposite reason.

The study concluded:

Our participants preferred penises that were only a little above average.

If you have a 3D printer and wish to print the test phalluses, they are available at Thingiverse.
