There's an incredible Twitter feud kicking off between two remote Scottish libraries - again

Today, Orkney Library was verified by Twitter.

Obviously, this is an exciting time for the library with 26,000 followers, given they cater to a group of islands with only 20,000 people.

So, they decided to kick off with their neighbours, the Shetland Islands, because why not?

Shetland showed them why not:

After which Orkney started humblebragging to lay down the pain...

...before subtweeting, to the as-yet-unverified Shetland:

And now basically the only thing left is war.

Especially the libraries' history of being fierce frenemies.

Just remember the time that Orkney persuaded J.K. Rowling to visit:

...and Shetland tried to save face...

...while Orkney were having none of it:

This latest dishonourable loss for Shetland seems to have sewn the game up, especially as their library has only 4,000 followers in comparison to Orkney's 26,000.

Yep, we're calling it, the rivalry is over. RIP.
