This is where George Clooney took Amal for their first date

George Clooney met his wife after she visited his house with a friend - and their first date was as romantic as it was adorable.

Clooney admitted that when he first met Amal, he wasn’t even sure if she was romantically interested in him – though his agent had told the 56-year-old that he had met the woman he was going to marry.

Speaking to David Letterman on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, he said:

The funniest thing was my mum and dad were visiting, so my parents were there, and we just talked and we stayed up all night talking.

And then, I got her email address ‘cause she was going to send me some pictures of my parents and then, we started writing, and I didn’t know if she wanted to go out with me.

Though the duo kept in touch sporadically, with Clooney attempting to woo her with emails written from his dog Einstein to her, it wasn’t until he was back in London working on a movie score that he plucked up the courage to ask her out.

In October I went to London to do the score of a movie at Abbey Road - you got 150-piece orchestra, and I thought, 'If you're ever going to impress anybody...' I said, 'You should come to Abbey Road' and Amal's like, 'Well, I'm at the Muslim Brotherhood right now but I'll come over right after.'

Yep. He took her to the legendary Abbey Road. Because of course.

So she left this meeting where she's trying to hold the Muslim Brotherhood to account for something and we're here just doing a dumb movie score.

Amal is an international and human rights barrister who has represented Egyptian-Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy and many notable individuals, and whose work in support of human rights campaigns has made her a leader in her field.

George won the relationship lottery. And he knows it.
