The Premier League spent the most in January's transfer window

The Premier League outflanked Italy, Germany, Spain and France on spending in January's transfer window, statistics from the BBC and plotted by Statista show.

England's top division spent twice as much as Italy, the country who spent the second-highest amount.

The most expensive transfer in the Premier League was for forward Wilfried Bony, who moved from Swansea to Manchester City at a cost of £28m.
