Along with these great misconceptions, London-based data journalist and information designer David McCandless, has created a handy, colour-coded chart to debunk 52 of the most "contagious falsehoods" that we believe to be true but actually turn out to be false.

The size of the circle indicates how common the misconception is and each colour signifies a different theme (click to see a larger version).
