A 93-year-old Italian grandma is going to Kenya to volunteer at an orphanage.

Eliza Coltro wrote about her ‘nonna’ - italian for grandma - Irma on her Facebook page. She became an overnight hit.

The post writes:

This is my grandma Irma, a young lady of 93, who sets off for Kenya tonight.

Not to some tourist resort to be waited on hand and foot, but to a village of children, in an orphanage. I’m showing her to you because I believe that all of us should always keep a dash of recklessness in order to live and not just survive.

Look at her…Who’s stopping her? I love her.

Nonna Irma has made donations to an orphanage founded by an Italian missionary for many years, Coltro told Italian publication La Repubblica.

She decided that donating was no longer enough, and informed her daughter (Coltro’s mum), that she was going to Kenya and her daughter was welcome to tag along.

Having lost her husband at the age of 26, nonna Irma has spent her life helping people.

Coltro said:

My grandma has always loved life and has never let anything stop her.

Irma and her daughter will be in Kenya for three weeks.

And it looks like she's already made an impression...

Aw.
