Stephen Fry is in trouble for something he said and it isn't the first time

National treasure Stephen Fry was being filmed for a TV show when he was asked what he’d say if he ever met God in heaven.

He said:

I’d say, bone cancer in children? What’s that about? How dare you create a world in which there is such misery? It’s not our fault? It’s not right. It’s utterly, utterly evil.

Which is, you know, a question many atheists would agree with.

A viewer complained, however, and thanks to Ireland’s Defamation Act 2009, Fry is being investigated for blasphemy, which it constitutes as an offence. The original complaint was filed in 2015, and an investigation is now underway.

It’s not the first time in recent years Fry has been in trouble for what he's said.

Last year he briefly deleted his Twitter account after he was flooded with criticism for saying designer Jenny Beavan looked like she was "dressed as a bag lady".

In a far less frivolous case, Fry apologised last April after suggesting he believed survivors of sexual abuse who pity themselves should “grow up”. He added:

Your self-pity gets none of my sympathy because self-pity is the ugliest emotion in humanity.
