The unofficial World Cup of Christmas songs has named its official winner - and we think you'll agree it's a perfect choice.

TV Presenter and serial host of Twitter World Cups Richard Osman put users through intense rounds of polling to decide the ultimate Christmas song.

In the first round, songs were split into eight groups.

Once the early stragglers were voted out, the competition really started.

And the quarterfinals heated up like a log fire on Christmas day.

The final four were all absolute classics.

Then, far too soon, it was time to choose between two Christmastime titans.

With its drunken Christmas Eve memories and insulting festive greetings, Fairy Tale of New York is undoubtedly the perfect Christmas hit.
