MPs finally reject no-deal Brexit by just one vote and people are very relieved

MPs last night voted in favour of taking a no-deal Brexit off the table, and Theresa May is expected to ask the European Union to delay the date of the UK’s exit from the EU.

The plan was voted through by MPs by the skin of their teeth with 313 votes to 312 in the latest rounds at the Commons.

It came as Philip Hammond said a second referendum was a “perfectly credible proposition” and suggested the government would be prepared to compromise on a customs union.

The bill was tabled by Labour MP Yvette Cooper.

Reactions to the vote have been mixed.

Tory MP Mark Francois was outraged by the results

In a speech following the results he said: "Ramming a bill through in 4 hours [is A] constitutional outrage."

The public won’t be impressed by this, forgive them Father for they know not what they do.
