In a late night tweet on Friday, Donald Trump publicly took a shot at NBA superstar LeBron James.

The basketball player had appeared on CNN on Monday were interviewed with Don Lemon after the LeBron James Family Foundation and the Akron (Ohio) Public Schools launched a new elementary school, specifically for children who are considered to be at-risk.

In the interview, James commented on Trump's impact on the sports world, something that he feels the President is using to divide the citizens of the United States, clearly hinting at his spat with the President last year and Trump's war of words with the NFL.

The 33-year-old said:

[Trump is] using sports to kinda divide us.

Sports has never been something that divides people.

It's always been something that brings someone together.

Trump, who may have been watching a repeat of the interview, considering he tweeted about it four days after it originally, claimed that not only was Lemon the "dumbest man on television" but that he managed to make LeBron "look smart, which isn't easy to do."

Unfortunately for Trump, this is another example of the President forgetting about what he tweeted about years and years ago.

A quick search through his history on Twitter proves that once upon a time, Trump was actually a big fan of LeBron and his skills with a basketball and once called him "a great guy."

How quickly we forget, aye?

Trump and LeBron's feud really reignited in June, who was still playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, said that neither them nor their opponents, the Golden State Warriors would visit the White House if they won the NBA Championship.

In response, Trump said that neither team would be invited.

In a separate interview with ESPN, James was asked he if regretted criticising the President. He said:

For someone to try to divide us by using our platform of sport?

Sport has given me everything I could ever ask for. I couldn't let that happen.

Many people have found Trump's comments inappropriate but a few have noticed something.
