Elon Musk and the Museum of English Rural Life have swapped their pictures on Twitter and it is seriously weird

Elon Musk, the CEO and co-founder of both Tesla and SpaceX, is undoubtedly a very intelligent man when it comes to technology but you could fool most people into thinking that his Twitter account was run by a 13-year-old child.

On Thursday, the 47-year-old South African changed his Twitter profile picture to a snap of an Exmoor Horn Ram that became a viral hit last year after the Museum of English Rural Life featured it in a tweet calling the sheep 'an absolute unit.'

The term 'absolute unit' has since become a bit of a hit on Twitter and was used by MIT Technology Review to describe the Stratolaunch, the world's largest plane which took it's first flight earlier this week.

Musk, clearly aware of the meme replied to the MIT tweet with a picture of the sheep.

The Museum of English Rural Life then replied to Musk with the classic Spider-Man meme before being challenged to change his picture to one of the sheep.

Not only did Musk oblige but he also updated his Twitter bio to read 'absolūt unit.'

The Museum of English Rural life, which is a branch of the University of Reading, soon noticed what Musk had done and was just as confused as everyone else.

After asking Musk what he was playing at, the account decided that they weren't going to wait around for an answer and decided to change their picture to the philanthropist and also renamed themselves 'The Muskeum of Elongish Rurual Life.'

They then agreed that Musk could keep the picture of the sheep as long as he would come and judge the sheep competition at the Berkshire show, even offering the chance to 'fire the winner into space' which seems a bit irresponsible.

Musk is yet to respond to any of the museum's offers but he did confirm that he 'switched souls' with the account.

Musk has since started to tweet really bad sheep based puns and added that his Twitter is 'pretty much complete nonsense.'

Meanwhile, the museum seems to be coping well with their new identity and have vowed to start the 'Museum of Mars Rural Life.'

Speaking to the BBC, Adam Koszary, Programme Manager and Digital Lead for Museums Partnership Reading and the man who runs the museum account, added that once Musk has changed his picture then they will revert back to the one of the sheep.

The end-game for our whole Twitter is engaging people with English rural life, even if that means memes.

We'll change our picture back either when Elon changes his back, or at the point where people are confused enough to show up to Elon Musk's house expecting it to be the Museum of English Rural Life.
