Trump aide Kellyanne Conway threatens to perform 'abortion with a gun' in resurfaced 2007 speech

A controversial video from 2007 featuring Donald Trump's counsellor, Kellyanne Conway, has reemerged on social media.

In the clip, which was recently republished by MediaITE, Conway is reportedly giving a speech to the College Republican National Committee on 13 July, 2007.

During the speech, the pro-life advocate, she addresses 'gender studies feminists' and the issue of abortion which leads her to make this quip:

I always love to say to those gender studies people if you say ‘abortion’ or ‘stem cells’ or ‘guns’ one more time, I’m going to perform one of those on you because, with a gun, because you, by implication, are suggesting that women can’t do the math.

It's unlikely that Conway was being serious in this threat, as abortion via this method would have particularly gruesome and fatal consequences for all involved, but it's telling given recent comments by Conway and the Trump administration.

In an interview with Fox News, Conway attacked the mainstream media who she accused of being "pretty much pro-abortion" and that many outlets ignored governor Ralph Northam's comments on the failed abortion bill in Virginia, which she called "unforgivable," in a statement to White House reporters on Monday.

They just don’t cover this... I’m sorry, I have to say this, why do they call it ‘women’s issues’ then?

Why do we always have to hear that such-and-such politician is bad or good on quote ‘women’s issues?’ Don’t they really mean abortion?

Because I’ve been in politics for 30 years, and I’ve never not a single time heard the phrase ‘men’s issues,’ because people believe men voters can handle all the issues.

Donald Trump also chose to address the Virginia abortion bill and the New York Reproductive Health Act in his State of the Union speech on Tuesday, which he called "chilling displays".

Lawmakers in New York cheered with delight upon the passage of legislation that would allow a baby to be ripped from the mother's womb moments from birth.

These are living, feeling, beautiful, babies who will never get the chance to share their love and their dreams with the world.

And then, we had the case of the Governor of Virginia where he stated he would execute a baby after birth.

To defend the dignity of every person, I am asking Congress to pass legislation to prohibit the late-term abortion of children who can feel pain in the mother's womb.

Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God.
