A Dutch woman has taken to Instagram to highlight the stigma surrounding nudity by simply stripping off.

21-year-old Sterre has been travelling around Australia wearing no clothes at all and posting images of her journey on Instagram.

Her account a.naked.girl is full of images of her completely nude with her back to camera in fields, by riversides and on the beach.

However, there is nothing overtly sexual about her images. In fact, her goal is completely the opposite.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Sterre shared her mission:

Being naked still makes other people uncomfortable.

It is really a shame that not everyone can see the pleasure of being naked in a non-sexual way.

It's a somewhat different approach to many other body positive campaigns seen on the social media site. Sterre's goal is to prove that the human body should not be objectified, but celebrated.

She adds:

I wanted to help change that.

To spread body positivism with Instagram and show people that being nude is not sexual or weird.

Sterre now has over 78,000 followers on Instagram and she hopes that her popularity can help promote naturism and the beauty of our natural state.

The sensation of freedom, the adrenaline, the beautiful touch of the wind on your skin, all of those things are the joys of getting yourself naked in nature.

My naked adventures outdoors have filled me with happiness, self-knowledge, and a great perspective of truly enjoying life as it should be.

First your space, take a little step, and just dare! It feels so good to have nothing but a smile on.
