Someone turned 'the dress' into a very powerful message

Some people may find the content in this post upsetting

It may seem like a long time since we heard anything about 'the dress', last week's viral sensation.

But a charity has turned interest in the blue and black or white and gold social media conversation into a powerful message about domestic violence.

This picture was tweeted by the Salvation Army in South Africa, which said one in six women are victims of abuse.

A spokesperson for the Salvation Army in the UK told i100.co.uk: "The Salvation Army sees the devastating effects of domestic violence on women, men and children every day. We support people who are affected in our human trafficking work, our specialist services, Lifehouses and community centres.

"We know that one in four women are victims of domestic violence in the UK: this innovative and powerful campaign by The Salvation Army in South Africa highlights that domestic violence is often overlooked by society. We hope this image helps people to see the true impact of this crime."
