The countries where people feel safest walking home alone at night

Norway is one of the countries in the world where people feel safest walking alone at night, OECD data based on Gallop World Poll results has found.

A majority of 86 per cent of people said they had no fears about street crime, even when on their own in the dark.

Spain, where 85 per cent of respondents said the same, came a close second, the UK isn't far behind at 79 per cent:

On the other end of the spectrum, only 58 per cent of Italians said they'd feel safe.

In Brazil, that figure drops to just 36 per cent.

And judging by this list of the world's most dangerous cities, it would appear Brazilians' caution is well placed.
