The trailer for the new Star Wars film is here and people already seem to be losing it

The trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens dropped on Monday, and little kids and big kids alike are very excited.

The seventh film in the series, The Force Awakens picks up 30 years after Return of the Jedi. Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher are reprising their roles as Han Solo and Princess Leia, and the film also features British actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega in starring roles.

A handful of racists immediately started tweeting #BoycottStarWarsVII when it became apparent that John Boyega, who was seen dressed as a stormtrooper in a teaser trailer last year, is actually playing a Jedi knight.

Although the hashtag appears to be trending because of disproportionate online outrage rather than because of messages of support.

"#WheresLuke" also started trending on social media after the trailer premiered as the clip didn't feature Mark Hamill, who is supposed to be making a comeback as Luke Skywalker and has featured in voiceovers on previous trailers.

Directed by JJ Abrams, the film is anticipated as a return to form for Star Wars after three prequel movies in the 2000s that were commercially successful but critically panned.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out on December 18th. Try to do something else other than watching the trailer on loop until then.
