A woman couldn't make her granddaughter's 10th birthday party - so they brought the party to her

Ellie Bosher’s 10^th birthday party was coming up and her grandmother, to whom she is very close, couldn’t come.

Living in a nursing home and recovering from spinal surgery, Rita Blankenship was set to miss the party.

Ellie's mum had organised the party to take place in a hotel, but one day Ellie burst into tears.

Her daughter said that if she couldn’t have her grandmother with her, she didn’t want to hold a party at all.

Her mum called the nursing home, who agreed to allow the party to relocate there and the family dressed up to an Alice in Wonderland theme, and surprised Grandma Blankenship.

Ellie told ABC News:

I loved it. It was so much fun. My favourite part was pretty much seeing the look on Granny’s face.
