Justin Bieber meets stranger up a mountain, bares his soul

In news that sounds too surreal to be true, a man has recounted the moment he met Justin Bieber halfway up a mountain.

According to TMZ, Mike Maedke was out hiking with his wife in Runyon Canyon, California, when he spotted the pop sensation walking in the opposite direction.

The hiker said "Hey Biebs, what's up?", Biebs subsequently sat down on a bench, talked wistfully about Canada and reflected on the Hollywood hills below.

It's so chaotic down there.

After a 20 minute conversation about "life, Los Angeles and fame", in which Bieber apparently taught Maedke how to take a selfie, two screaming teenage girls approached.

At which point Bieber gave the hiker a fist bump and wandered away.

But in case you were worried this was some far-fetched piece of fan fiction, Maedke has the photographic evidence to prove it was real.
