People adore this boy who grew out his hair for two years for children with cancer

Thomas Moore spent two years growing his hair out so he could donate it to children with cancer.

The 10-year-old boy had seen a Facebook video about Kyssi Andrews, a young girl who had lost all her hair while battling cancer, and wanted to do something to help.

After his mum Angie Pulos explained what cancer and chemotherapy were, he decided to grow his hair out and donate it to Kyssi.

Thomas’ aunt Amber Ray told BuzzFeed he didn’t know how long he was going to grow it for at first, but that he “just wanted it to be long enough to make the girl feel happy”.

He eventually had his hair braided to keep it tame, which he didn’t like because of his tender scalp. He almost called it quits a number of times, but his aunt said that each time “they had to re-focus on the reason for growing it”.

Last weekend, Thomas finally went to get his hair cut. His aunt tweeted a before and after photo which has since been shared more than 60,000 times.

She explained:

He said he felt good about it and hoped it would make other people happy.

Thomas was able to donate enough hair to make three wigs for children with cancer. Sadly, Kyssi has since passed away but her mother Marla praised Thomas' "brave and selfless act" in a Facebook post.
