Viewers were left cringing today after Peter Andre’s attempt at a joke was met with silence.
Speaking about his roles in an upcoming musical adaptation of Grease, Andre made an obvious pun comparing the musical to the country, but let’s just say no one at Live at the Apollo reached for their phones to book the star.
He said: “The ironic thing of course is that we’re talking about Grease and we can’t even fly there.”
After a tiny pause for the laughter that didn’t ensue, Andre continued: “Err, which is interesting, so, what an interesting time. I thought that was a bit of a Greek joke but no-one actually laughed at that.”
Indeed they did not.

Here’s how the moment went down:

Andre is set to play both Teen Fountain and Vince Fontaine in the musical adaptation of the film, which debuts in July. It was meant to take place in 2020 but was cancelled for obvious coronavirus related reasons.
But those involved in the musical may be asking Andre to tone down his attempts at humour.
Credit where it’s due, an undeterred Andre bounced back and added that it’s impossible not to feel good when the sun is shining and the Grease tunes are blasting.
“You know you hear that song and it makes you feel good,” he said.
“The sun’s out, it’s just a nice vibe.”
If only we could see the sun in Greece though, eh Pete?
