Air Force Reserve dismisses woman after she appeared in a racist viral video

The US Air Force Reserve has expelled a young woman from their service after a racist video of her emerged on Snapchat and went viral.

The woman was not identified by officials, but has since been named by media outlets as 20-year-old Tabitha Duncan of Jefferson County, Missouri.

Duncan is said to be seen in the video along with her friends saying "we're going n****r hunting."

Fox News states that individuals in the video are heard to be saying:

So we going n****r hunting today or what?

Another person replies:

We’re going n****r hunting.

Duncan is then heard to say:

You get them n*****s.

In a post on their official Facebook page, the Air Force Reserve confirmed her dismissal. It said her actions were unacceptable and not reflective on the Air Force.

In a further statement, Lt. Col. Chad Gibson, a Reserve spokesman, told Air Force Times:

The video, released days after her enlistment, is intolerable and does not reflect the values of the Air Force.

We expect all airmen to adhere to our core values and treat others with a high level of dignity and respect.

This is intolerable, and we’re taking actions in response to it.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, earlier this week, Duncan apologised for her actions stated that she was unaware she was being filmed and was with people that she "barely knew."

I was underage drinking, and I said something stupid.

I was intoxicated. I have black friends, I have black people in my family.

I didn't mean it. I didn't know that I was being [recorded].

Duncan has also been released from her waitressing job at The Social Bar & Grill in St. Louis for her involvement in the "vile, disgusting and offensive video", officials told the Daily News.

Duncan reportedly enlisted on 31 May. The video was shared online on Sunday, 10 June with investigations then beginning on the following Monday evening.
