There is a rich and varied history of viral photobombs.

There have been naked men at weddings.

Tom Hanks surprising a happy couple. Yes, that Tom Hanks.

The International Space Station even managed to photobomb the eclipse.

Despite all this, we've never seen a hippo photobomb before. Until today.

Nick Kelble and Hayley Roll had an audience during a life changing trip to Cincinnati Zoo, Ohio - clearly the baby hippo wanted a good look at the ring Nick was using to propose.

The cute baby hippo that stole the limelight was Fiona but the newly- engaged couple clearly didn't mind as they are big fans of the species.

In an interview with The Daily BuzzHayley explained how it all went down.

We went to the zoo for our One Year Anniversary and Fiona was in the window.

Nick, my boyfriend and I were waiting in line to get our photo taken with Fiona and I gave my cell phone to someone to take the photo and when I turned back around, Nick was on one knee proposing.

This isn't the only unique story connected to Fiona.

In January, she became the first Nile hippo to be born in captivity in the last 75 years.

It wasn't an easy start for her though, as her mother gave birth six weeks early.

Fortunately she pulled through, making her the smallest hippo to survive such conditions.

This made her a celebrity in her own right and both Nick and Hayley have been following Fiona's progress since day one.

Their visit was the first time they have been to seen Fiona in the flesh, making the special moment even better.

Hayley added:

We are huge #TeamFiona fans and have been following her since she was born.
