This is how much sex you'll have in your life

Have you ever wondered just how much sex everybody else is having, or if you're getting enough?

Now there's a bit more empirical data with which to compare yourself and your significant other, or that guy down the road.

A Mintel survey interviewed almost 2,000 men and women about their sex lives.

It works on the premise that people tell the whole truth about their sex lives to market researchers - so perhaps best to take this with a pinch of salt.

But nevertheless, the results paint an interesting picture of sex in Britain on a weekly basis.

• According to the results, one in five of us have sex a few times a week.
• Only three per cent have sex every day.
• The average UK resident will have sex 5,778 times in their life. 
• Assuming a sexually active range from the ages of 16 to 60, we spend on average 2,808 hours of our lives having sex, or 0.45 per cent of the average human life span.
• That's 117 days of your life.
