Sarah Huckabee Sanders has announced her bid for Arkansas governor with a campaign video that has been ridiculed by many.
The former White House press secretary claimed she joined the race for governor as it was “the last line of defence” against the “radical left in Washington”.
The dramatic eight-minute video - which covered all subject matter, including freedom of speech, violence in the Capitol, and an apparent censorship of conservative views - was branded ‘ridiculous’, ‘tone-deaf’ and a ‘joke’ by a number of incredulous Americans.
Huckabee Sanders claimed she was the first White House Press Secretary to require protection from the Secret Service due to the “credible, violent threat against me” - a claim many seemed to refute.
While seemingly condemning the Capitol riots and other political violence, the 38-year-old accused the “radical left” of trying to “impose government control, and censorship from the top-down”.
She was given a swift reminder that she did nothing less than this while part of Donald Trump’s administration.
Huckabee Sanders promised that as governor she would be a “leader with the courage to do what's right, not what's politically correct or convenient”, but that’s not quite the leader the state was looking for.
If you were wondering, former president Donald Trump gave the seal of approval to his former colleague.
He said: "Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a warrior who will always fight for the people of Arkansas and do what is right, not what is politically correct.
"Sarah will be a GREAT Governor, and she has my Complete and Total Endorsement!"
