Former US congressman John Delaney and senator Elizabeth Warren traded competing visions for the future of the Democratic Party at the second Democratic presidential debate.
Warren, who largely represents the progressive wing of the party, faced off with self-described centrist Delaney. At one point during the debate, Delaney said that progressive ideas are “dead on arrival” and “will never happen”.
To this, Warren quickly responded:
I don’t understand why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can’t do and shouldn’t fight for.
I don't get it.
Extremely rude of Elizabeth Warren to murder John Delaney on national television like this. #DemDebate https://t.co/9OO6F6T0Mw— Erick Fernandez (@Erick Fernandez) 1564536251
Afterwards, Delaney's Wikipedia page was edited to say he had died at the Democratic debate at the hands of Warren.
The change was quickly reversed, but that didn’t stop a timely screen grab from going viral on Twitter.
Someone edited John Delaney's wiki lmao https://t.co/Q88cCo78On— Ken Klippenstein (@Ken Klippenstein) 1564537291
