Warning: This article contains some swearing, as you'd probably expect.
During the 1990s Liam Gallagher was one of the most notorious rock stars in the world.
The outspoken, foulmouthed front man of Oasis was not scared of controversy or making headlines.
Nothing was too outrageous for him or his brother Noel, two warring siblings who truly embraced the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.
Sadly, the 90s were a long-time ago and Liam is a middle-aged man living in the 21st century.
Whilst he still doesn't mind speaking his mind, Liam received a rude awakening on Saturday night when he was prevented from buying cigarettes because he didn't have any identification:
We can only presume the shopkeeper had never heard of Gallagher, who once sung a song called 'Cigarettes and Alcohol.'
Although this refusal clearly rattled Liam, his many Twitter follows had fun with the news referencing many of his song at his expense.
Other fans felt that he should be proud that he was still being asked for ID at his age.
It is considered a compliment after all.
Predictably, there were plenty of Noel Gallagher GIFS in tow:
Liam was probably reassured to hear that he wasn't the only major musician who was unrecognisable to a member of the public:
Either way, we imagine Liam's response in the moment might have looked a little like this.
We just hope that Liam has 'Stopped Crying his Heart Out' by now.
