New Isis hostage video: the key points

Isis militants have released a new video featuring British hostage John Cantlie, an independent British photojournalist who has reported for the Sunday Times, the Sun and the Telegraph.

This video is not of a beheading, but shows Mr Cantlie wearing orange clothing and saying he is a prisoner.

i100 has chosen not to show any stills or mention more details of the video, as it is propaganda for a terrorist group.

Former security Minister Pauline Neville-Jones said the video showed Isis militants were changing their social media tactics. "It sounds a bit like a variation in the tactics,” she said. "It [the video] sounds an entirely cynical exploit on their part obviously aimed at a certain audience.”

Isis militants released a video on Saturday threatening the life of Alan Henning, a 47-year-old taxi driver from Salford.

The Briton was working as part of an aid convoy in the north-western Syrian town of Ad-Dana when he was captured by the militant group - it was his second trip to the troubled state as a volunteer.
