Dozens of people dived off a 10-metre diving board for the very first time, and the video of their reactions is weirdly fascinating.

Participants were asked to dive from the ‘Ten Meter Tower’ as part of a social experiment that aims to study ‘The human in a vulnerable position’.

None of them had ever dived from a board that high before.

The makers called it a ‘Portrait of humans in doubt’ in an article for the New York Times.

The video’s synopsis says:

People who have never been up there before have to choose whether to jump or climb down. The situation itself highlights a dilemma: to weigh the instinctive fear of taking the step out against the humiliation of having to climb down.

And how many people took the leap? Out of the 67 participants, around 70 per cent managed it, according to the video’s makers.
