Rob Ford put tie he wore when he admitted smoking crack on eBay

A notorious former Toronto mayor and now city councillor is auctioning off personal memorabilia on the internet.

Items listed by Rob Ford include what appears to be the garish tie he wore in 2013 when he admitted to smoking crack.

In the eBay description, Mr Ford said the tie is the “only one of these in existence” and features logos from NFL teams past and present. Yesterday the tie had been bid up to about $2. The former mayor’s term in office was plagued by scandals involving drinking, crack use and erratic behaviour.

Ten per cent of the proceeds will go toward research and care facilities for liposarcoma, the form of cancer for which he is being treated. Other items up for auction include a football jersey and some patterned trousers he was photographed wearing on a shopping trip.

The memorabilia come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Mr Ford. A spokesman said other items would be listed, but didn’t say where the rest of the proceeds will go.
